There is a continuous demand for microbiologists as workforce- education, research and industry. The scope of Microbiology is vast and extends to many areas of science. Over the years development of microbiology has been seen in the fields of medicine, Pharmacy, Clinical research, diary and food industry, agriculture, and water industry. Microbiology also impacts the areas of bioremediation and alternative fuels.
Vision
To provide quality education in Microbiology at the undergraduate level by combining classroom learning with practical training, and to prepare students to use their knowledge for
the benefit of health, environment, and society.
Mission
∙ To give students a clear understanding of microorganisms and their role in daily life. ∙ To promote scientific thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities. ∙ To encourage ethical values and responsibility in the use of microbiological knowledge. ∙ To guide students towards careers in healthcare, research, industry, and education.
∙ To create awareness of the importance of microbiology in improving public health and environmental sustainability.
Laboratory facilities
∙ Undergraduate Microbiology Laboratory is well-equipped to support the practical curriculum and enhance students’ understanding of core microbiological techniques.
∙ The laboratory includes essential instruments such as compound microscopes, autoclave, incubator, laminar airflow cabinet, hot air oven, and refrigerator.
∙ The lab is also equipped with facilities for microbial culture, staining, biochemical testing, and antimicrobial sensitivity testing. Sterile working conditions are maintained for handling microbial samples safely.
